Wawel was classified among five best managed companies on Warsaw Stock Exchange. Business paper "Puls Biznesu" decided to survey brokers, analysts and consultants and they appreciated high skills of Management Board and good financial performence of Wawel.
Fifth place in that ranking is a great success because it means improving by 164 positions. In the survey skills of the management boards and accurancy of their business decisions were assessed. Good financial results and putting on hold investment plans in Ukraine were particularly well perceived by 181 experts from Polish financial institutions.
High skills
The CEO of Wawel is Mr. Dariusz Orłowski who graduated from Management Faculty at the University of Economics in Cracow. His career in Wawel started in 1999 when he became the Financial Director. Since 2001 he has been the CEO. Another member of the Management Board is Mr. Wojciech Winkel who is the Production Director.
Good results
Wawel did well in 2008. Despite the fact of the global economic crisis the company improved its results. Revenue from sales in the fourth quarter of 2008 was 81 million PLN which is 109% of the result during the same period of 2007. In 2008 Wawel had 255.7 million PLN of turnover (245,2 million PLN in 2007) and 25.3 million of net profit (22.4 million PLN in 2007).
Top positions in rankings
The value of Wawel brand increased in 2008 by 73%!. The company was ranked third in the ranking of the Most Valuable Polish Brands in the category of confectionery and ice-creams. Wawel also won the contest „Gazele Biznesu" as the best confectionery manufacturer in the region of south-east Poland.
